History of the Establishment of Polis Bantuan UNIMAS
- Previously, the security team at UNIMAS was known as the UNIMAS Guard Unit, whose main focus was to ensure campus security and address arising issues.
- The UNIMAS Polis Bantuan was officially established on May 18, 2015, replacing the Guard Unit. This new unit has a more formal role and authority in maintaining security and enforcing the law on campus.
- The establishment was witnessed by the Vice-Chancellor of UNIMAS, Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohamad Kadim Suaidi, along with senior university officials and staff.
- UNIMAS received a total of 22 vehicles, including 2 Proton Preve cars, 5 Kawasaki Ninja 250cc motorcycles, and 15 Yamaha Lagenda 115cc motorcycles.
- The vehicle and motorcycle keys were handed over to the UNIMAS Polis Bantuan by the Chairman of the UNIMAS Board of Directors, Datu Dr. Hatta Solhi, at the Detar Putra Parade Ground.

Functions of Security Division
Security Division
- To assist the university management in ensuring the campus is safe, peaceful and harmonious for everyone in UNIMAS
- To provide 24 hours (365 days) management of efficient and effective security services
Operation and Investigation
- To manage the campus’s security policy
- To thoroughly plan and monitor all aspects of security management of all campus in UNIMAS
- To identify any threats to the safety and security of all personnel, properties and premises belonging to UNIMAS
- To monitor the CCTV and Door Access Control
Training
- To ensure all eligible members of the Security Division attend the Basic Auxiliary Police Course and then further training handled by the Security Division of UNIMAS
- To run safety awareness programs to all personnel inside UNIMAS’s campus grounds
Administration
- To manage and monitor all aspects of Traffic Management inside campus grounds to ensure traffic laws are obeyed
- To manage and monitor investigative and other specific duties of the whole UNIMAS Auxiliary Police organization to ensure actions can be taken based on the results of the investigations
- To do general administration as well as the management and growth of the human resources to ensure efficient and competent operations of the whole UNIMAS Auxiliary Police organization
